Opening Sequence and Tutorial - Part 1

(A flash of light. Wooly!Micah falls out of sky into road in front of Shara's flower shop. Shara opens door. She shows an exclamation point bubble, then rushes over.)

Girl (Shara):
Oh! It's a monster!
What are you doing all the way out here in town...?

(She looks around.)

Girl (Shara):
Oh no... It looks like you're hurt... Don't worry... I'll take care of you...

(She pulls Micah inside. As she brings him towards the stairs, Wells stands at the top of the stairs and looks into the shop.)

??? (Wells):
What happened?

(Shara turns around. Wells comes down the stairs and walks towards her, then shows an exclamation point bubble.)

??? (Wells):
?!
Hey! That's a monster!

Girl (Shara):
Yes, it is.

??? (Wells):
What's it doing in my house?!

Girl (Shara):
He's hurt! I need to help him!

??? (Wells):
Well, you coulda done that somewhere else! What'd you go drag it in here for?!

Girl (Shara):
So I should've just left him outside in the rain?
Anyway, I'll take care of him myself. I won't let him bother you.

(Wells shows a snarl bubble, then steps aside as Shara takes Micah up the stairs. Fade to black.)

(Wooly!Micah is lying in a bed as Shara stands beside him, leaning down and arranging the sheets. Shara stands up and shows a musical note bubble.)

Girl (Shara):
There you go. You should be okay for the night.

(Shara walks out. Fade to black.)

(It is now early morning. Wooly!Micah is lying in the bed. The screen pulses white, then there is a flash and Micah transforms into a human. He lies silent for a few seconds.)

??? (Micah):
Huh...?

(Micah gets up and out of bed.)

??? (Micah):
What's going on...?

(Micah shows an exclamation point bubble and looks around.)

??? (Micah):
Wait! Where the heck am I?!

(Micah runs out of the room and towards the stairs. Fade to black.)

(Micah is running towards the Sharance Tree from the south. He stops upon seeing Raven standing in the path.)

??? (Micah):
This feels like some sort of weird dream...
Hmm? Who's that?

Quiet Girl (Raven):
...

(Micah walks up to her.)

??? (Micah):
Um, hello...

(Raven turns around to face him.)

Quiet Girl (Raven):
...

(Raven tries to walk around him and away.)

??? (Micah):
Huh? Was it something I said...?

(She is stopped by Shara's greeting.)

Girl (Shara):
Good morning, Raven.

(Shara walks into the area from the south.)

Quiet Girl (Raven):
Morning...

Girl (Shara):
I don't usually see you around here by the tree...

Quiet Girl (Raven):
...

Girl (Shara):
Oh!

(Shara looks at Micah.)

Girl (Shara):
Hello there! I don't believe we've met. What's your name?

??? (Micah):
Huh? My name...?
...

Girl (Shara):
Is something wrong?

??? (Micah):
Yes... I can't remember my name...

Girl (Shara):
You can't remember your name? Why not?

??? (Micah):
I... I can't remember who I am... My name... Where I'm from...

Girl (Shara):
Do you mean you have amnesia?!

??? (Micah):
I guess I must...

Girl (Shara):
Oh no! What should we do?!

(Shara shows an exclamation point bubble.)

Girl (Shara):
Wait! I've got an idea!

(Shara looks at Raven.)

Girl (Shara):
Raven, could I ask you for a favor?

Quiet Girl (Raven):
A favor...?

Girl (Shara):
Yes. I'll explain in a bit.

(Shara looks back at Micah.)

Girl (Shara):
Hmmm... Well, since we don't know your name, what should we call you?

??? (Micah):
How about...

(The game waits for you to input the PC's name.)

Micah:
Micah. Call me Micah.

Girl (Shara):
Oh, what an intrepid name!

Micah:
Intrepid... I... I don't know about that...

(Shara looks at Raven.)

Girl (Shara):
Now, Raven...about that favor... Could you take Micah to the Sharance Tree?

Quiet Girl (Raven):
What? Me...?

Girl (Shara):
Yes, you. Could you do that as a favor to me?

Quiet Girl (Raven):
...
Okay...

Girl (Shara):
Tee-hee... Thank you very much, Raven.
Well then, I'm going to go back to my house to see my grandfather.

(Shara looks at Micah.)

Girl (Shara):
I'll come by to see you in a bit, Micah.

Micah:
All right...

(Shara walks south out of the area. Raven walks towards the Sharance Tree.)

Micah:
So, what's going on?

Quiet Girl (Raven):
This way...

(Raven walks up the steps.)

Micah:
Um, I guess I should follow her...

(Micah walks up the steps. Location card: Sharance Tree.)

Micah:
Wow, what a huge tree!

(Control is handed over to the player. Game waits for player to enter Sharance Tree.)

If player tries to exit area:
Micah:
I guess I should follow her...
